Hi, I’m Ruth
I have spent 25 years coaching, training, and speaking.
In 2010, my husband and I were shocked to discover that our daughter had developed an eating disorder without us noticing. It felt like the bottom had fallen out of our world. I felt fear, guilt, blame, and isolation. I had no idea what to do and assumed that we would get professional help and the problem would be solved. But I had no idea how hard it would all be.
After finding what I needed to help her daughter recover, I trained as a coach, wrote a book about our experiences and founded a well-being organisation called Fresh Air Fridays.
In 2019, I started volunteering with BEAT, the UK’s leading Eating Disorders Charity, and realised I was ready to support other parents.
I now run courses for and coach parents who have a child with an eating disorder. I deliver eating disorder courses for Cardiff Recovery College. I facilitate The Body Project, an eating disorders prevention programme, which I am passionate about being available across the whole of Wales.
